Colour All Around You

Colour shapes our environments, both in nature and in our cities.

Secondary Colours

By mixing equal parts of two primary colours, you can make secondary colours!

Red + Yellow = Orange

Yellow + Blue = Green

Blue + Red = Purple

Activity 2

Choose an image from around the house. It can be a family photo or a poster on the wall.

Then, create a colour palette by choosing at least 5 main colours from the photo.

Try to create a palette that matches the image using color pencils or cut outs from magazines.

Rainbows

Rainbows are palettes made up of many different colors, placed together.

Activity 3

Make your own Rainbow by rearranging the books in the order of the rainbow on a bookshelf.

You can do the same with your clothes and your shoes!
Monochrome

Monochrome is a color palette that uses different shades of one color that are placed together.

Activity 4

Go around your house and choose objects that are the same colour and then arrange them in one place, or create a drawing or collage in various shades of one colour.

What can you learn by limiting the colors you can use?
